Windows have more security flaws than Unix/Linux?
Something that I have heard many times over the past few years is how much more secure Linus/Unix systems are over Windows. Well if that is true, how do you explain the Cyber Security Bulletin 2005 that reported that out of the 5,198 reported security flaws, 812 were reported against Windows, 2,328 were Unix/Linux. The remaining 2,058 were reported against multiple operating systems.
The fact remains that the popularity of the Windows operating system makes it the biggest target. Because of this Microsoft has a great responsibility to insure the security of Windows. From what I have seen, Microsoft has done a great job keeping their products secure. "Patch Tuesday" is now a day that the industry looks forward to. I have even read recommendations that other companies adopt the same strategy for releasing patches to their products.
