ACES: Narrative Composer Setup

Here are the steps needed to complete the Narrative Composer Client installation

Summary

  1. Meet minimum requirements and ensure .NET Programmability is installed
  2. Install Information Bridge Framework Client
  3. Install Narrative Composer
  4. Run DotNet20Fix.msi
  5. Run IBFHotFix.exe
  6. Import Meta Data
  7. Open Narrative Composer and configure security

Minimum Requirements

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional with SP3 or later or Windows XP Professional with SP1 or later
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 with SP1
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or later
  • Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 (Word, Outlook, Excel, and InfoPath)

Additional Office Components

  • Microsoft Office .NET Programmability Support
  • Microsoft Office Tools Smart Tag .NET Programmability Support

 

To install the components listed above, perform the following steps:

  1. In Add / Remove Programs, locate Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 and click Change
  2. Insure Add or Remove Features is selected and click Next
  3. Select Choose advanced customization of applications and click Next
  4. Expand Microsoft Office Excel and make sure .NET Programmability Support is set to Run from My Computer

    NOTE: If you do not see the .NET Programmability Support option there it means you do not have the .NET Framework installed.

 

  1. Expand Microsoft Office Outlook and make sure .NET Programmability Support is set to Run from My Computer
  2. Expand Microsoft Office Word and make sure .NET Programmability Support is set to Run from My Computer
  3. Expand Office Tools and make sure Smart Tag .NET Programmability Support is set to Run from My Computer
  4. Click Update

ACES Narrative Composer

To install ACES Narrative Composer, perform the following steps,

NOTE: If you receive an error during setup of Narrative Composer about installer types in soxitemuiassembly.dll you will need to install the IBF Client components first, then run the Narrative Composer Setup

  1. Run the setup program
  2. Click Next at Welcome screen
  3. Enter the URL to the Aces Web Service. For example, http://aces/_vti_bin/acesservice.asmx
  4. Click Next
  5. Click Next
  6. Click Close
  7. Run the file C:\Program Files\AVIVA Consulting Group\Narrative Composer\2.1\misc\DotNet20Fix.msi
  8. Run the file C:\Program Files\AVIVA Consulting Group\Narrative Composer\2.1\misc\IBFHotFix.exe

     

Import Meta Data

If the environment is not using Integrated Security you will need to follow the steps in my other post ACES: Configuring Narrative Composer and ACES Server for BASIC Authentication
