ACES: Setup Instructions for Narrative Composer and Office 2007

If you are using Office 2007 and ACES you will need to follow an alternate set of installation steps. Narrative Composer 2.1 For Office 2007 requires Information Bridge Frame 1.6. Because IBF 1.6 is considered a hot fix by Microsoft, you will need to reference the Knowledge Base Article (KB 926348) call Microsoft and they will send the hot fix.

Summary

  • Install Information Bridge Framework 1.6 Hot Fix
  • Install ACES Narrative Composer 2.1. For Microsoft Office 2007
  • Import ACES Metadata
  • Connect and configure

Install Information Bridge Framework 1.6 Hot Fix

After obtaining the hot fix and extracting the files, execute Setup.exe.

  1. After accepting the Terms click Next
  2. Enter http://localhost for the Metadata Service location. Do NOT Validate the metadata Service Location

  1. Click Next
  2. Click Install
  3. Click Finish

Configure Office Word to use .NET Framework 2.0

  1. In the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12 directory, create a file called winword.exe.config
  2. Copy and paste the following into the new file

    <startup>

    <requiredRuntime imageVersion="v2.0.50727" version="v2.0.50727" />

    <supportedRuntime version="v2.0.50727" />

    </startup>

    </configuration>


Install ACES Narrative Composer 2.1. For Microsoft Office 2007

  1. Click Next
  2. Type the URL to the ACES Web Service

  1. Click Next
  2. Click Next
  3. Click Close

 

Import ACES Metadata

From Control Panel, open the Administrative Tools…IBF Settings Manager

  1. Click Manage Local Cache
  2. Click Next
  3. In the Select source location, select File

  1. Browse to the ACES Metadata file provided
  2. Click View Metadata Scopes
  3. Click Trust
  4. Click Select all Scopes
  5. Click Next
  6. Click Finish

 

Connect and configure

Connect to your ACES Server using your web browser. Either locate or create an item that has been configured for Narratives. This is typically the Cycle, Process, or Sub Process.

  1. Click Edit Narrative
  2. Click OK
  3. In some situations you will be prompted to login
  4. Click into the body section of the document
  5. If this is your first time connecting from this machine you will be prompted for Credentials

Post Installation Recommendations

To ensure optimal performance we recommend you IBF client use the following Cache settings
