Hmmm! I'm sure there is a fine technical reason for this from the folks at Microsoft. However, the folks from Redmond also have a product to sell. This smacks of Microsoft ensuring its browser software, namely IE plays well with its web server, while other equally good or better browsers have to run the hoops.

I tried many other advises before, installed IIS at least three time and it all just soo simple. Now, at last, I can start further development to get my wrapper for Boinc ready. (Required IIS because I run Debian-Boinc Server under VMware).Thank you Pete..!

I'd like to know why the **ck those ***holes that develop these programs think they need to **ck with it so as to make our lives (users) more difficult!  Every **cking release has to have some clever new *ullsh*t  in it that just **cks things up and we then have to spend hours, and days trying find the **cking answer!!

I must say a big thank you to you Pete for posting this solution to fix what seems to be a huge common problem.

I tried it myself but unfortunately it didn’t work. I was having this problem when viewing a website in firefox that I had designed and uploaded to my host, I was begining to think it was something I had done in dreamweaver! I have just spoken to my host and apparently it is a problem at there end and I was assured it will be fixed, fingers crossed.

It would seem the problem would stem from the hosts themselves not localhost but who knows????
